Newcastle Airport is constantly adding to its network of services. Some new additions are:

  • Low-cost carrier Flybe has announced a new service to the Channel Island of Guernsey from Tyneside
  •  Kiss Flights said it is set to start running services out of Newcastle International for the first time with various summer 2010 services.
  • Thomas Cook has also announced two new locations will be part of its 2010 programme – Izmir, in Turkey, and Bourgas, in Bulgaria.

  • Manx2.com has announced it is to increase the frequency of flights on its latest route from the Isle of Man to Newcastle.

The airline began operating its eighth route on 27 August 2009 after stepping in to save the link to the North East when the previous operator announced it was to withdraw its services. There has been such a positive response to the re-introduction of the link by Manx2.com that the airline will increase its frequency of flights to five per week ,with the addition of a new Wednesday service.
Currently, flights operate between the Isle of Man and Newcastle on a Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The route has been scheduled to run until the end of the year but the company is hoping to secure its long-term future; an announcement about the future of the service into 2010 and beyond is imminent.
A spokesman for the company stated that the success is much due to flight prices which are lower than those offered by the former operator. The airline are delighted with the positive response to manx2's low fares on this route and have reacted by introducing the new wednesday flight.

  • easyjet is to open a new service from Newcastle Airport to Malta in May 2009
  • Emirates now flies from Newcastle Airport, and is offering a wide choice on connecting flights to Asia and the Far East
  • Jet2.com Announce Brand New Route from Newcastle Airport. In a press release on 5 May 2009, Newcastle Airport announced that:

"Low fare airline Jet2.com have launched another destination from its base at Newcastle Airport; flights to Croatia started this May and brings the total number of routes available from Newcastle to 13. 

The residents of the North East are now within easy reach of the beautiful Adriatic Coast with flights now on sale from just £56.99 one way, including taxes to the beautiful city of Split, Croatia.

Speaking about the route launch, Philip Meeson, boss of Jet2.com, commented:

Split is the main city in the region of Dalmatia and the largest city on the Croatian Adriatic coast. The city emerged from a Greek settlement and is famously known as the location the Roman Emperor Diocletian, who ordered a palace to be built for his retirement. It was ten years in the making and Diocletian resided in Split until his death in 313 AD.

• Fares from Newcastle to Croatia start from £56.99 one way including taxes. Flights will depart Newcastle to Split on Saturdays with the first flight departing 2 May 2009."
